18 Random Things

  • My older brother was a beagle. Or, to clarify, until I was 5 years old I believed our beagle Arthur was related to me. This says a great deal about how dogs are treated in my family.

  • I'm missing one of my upper canine teeth. I think that's why I'm constantly in search of my inner dog.

  • I once met Kevin Bacon at a party. He went through the buffet line ahead of me and told me which items were vegetarian.

  • I'm a vegetarian.

  • In elementary school my main career aspiration was to be a poet. I read most of t.s. eliot's work by the time I was 10 years old.

  • I didn't have many friends in elementary school.

  • I don't really have a favorite color. They all have their merits.

  • I believe telekinesis is possible. I’ve seen my dog will me off the couch and to the biscuit jar every. single. night.

  • I'm more like my mother than I care to admit.

  • I love Indian food to an unreasonable degree. I could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.

  • I have an almost encyclopedic knowledge of Arthurian and Greek mythologies.

  • According to inside sources, I was runner up for "most innocent" in the senior pop polls in high school. I won "most talented." Both were way off.

  • I don't floss after every meal.

  • I can remember things from my early life and last year, but my midterm memory is terrible. Most of the 1980s and 1990s are gone. Fortunately I'm surrounded by people who can tell me what I did. Equally fortunate, there is little photographic evidence.

  • I'm a terrible cook. I'm also not good with house plants. They're SO needy.

  • There are many good reasons why my husband and I decided not to have kids, which I understand are even more needy than house plants.

  • I hate wearing shoes.

  • I love wearing pajamas. I suspect a correlation between the two sartorial preferences.

  • I like to surround myself with people smarter than me. I just don't like them to know that's the case.
